Pacific Paradise, Duck Hunting in Mexico

I was lucky in that I had the opportunity to hunt many different places over the years, mainly ducks and turkeys, but twice that on top of my list for good until late season duck hunting in Mexico and Turkey hunting in New Zealand. When completed in 2004, both of these hunts will become a reality for me, and I must admit that my Mexican aquatic experience lived up to my expectations.

My fantasies about duck hunting Mexico always centered around the famous Laguna Madre on the east coast. As I explored the southern duck hunting limits in more recent years, I learned that although it is still good hunting in eastern Mexico, the most consistent record now lies along the Pacific coast. I am a stickler for details when planning a hunt, and I found the only person I was looking to make a trip on the left coast of Mexico in reality Dick Kennerknecht, owner GSSafaris.

Dick told me that a Sinalopato Duck and Dove Club in Los Mochis, Mexico, and it was the place I was looking for. Dick explained that the one in Los Mochis, I would stay at four stars (the club), and be able to make morning and afternoon hunts in the surrounding countryside. Hunters have the choice of shooting doves or ducks each morning or afternoon, and I told Dick I would like to hunt ducks all the time.

At the end of January after most of the season in the U.S. closed, the adventure began. My group consisted of Lamar Underwood (Editor sport beyond), Neil Dickenson and Anthony Brown (of Knight & Hale game calls), and after a flight over the Mexican desert and mountains for a couple of hours we are pleasantly surprised when the green fields of crops and plenty of water covered the landscape as we descended toward Los Mochis. I knew we were in for a treat when I could see numerous flocks of ducks from an airplane.

morning, Lamar, Anthony and I were returned by airboat to the small blind is on the edge of the channel connecting two large lagoon as the sun rising above the horizonta.Buke our driving has sent thousands of ducks and shorebirds into the air, and our already high expectations grew exponentially. One of my goals for the trip was a return to prime Drake Cinnamon Teal will be mounted, and I thought, "surely all these birds, there is a duck who will give me a shot ." P

When we arrived at our little blind, our bird boy Miguel from 9 or 10 in Carry-Lite decoys, and Anthony placed in some nearby brush with his video camera. Lamar is the right end of the blind as I am stationed his left strane.Radnja start immediately with a small group Teal zip up the channel near the deck every few minutes. We never had time to fully load our weapons until we had 6 greenwings water.

When Lamar and I finally got a break and settled our gear, we just looked at each other and smiled. Shortly thereafter, Anthony hissed, 'big ducks out front. "I saw a trio of what seemed to gadwalls cruising about 200 feet away, and I grabbed my new Knight & Hale Bachelorette call that we are field testing and offered pozdrav.Siva ducks on a dime and quickly joined. They are single-pass, and I recognized the back as Lamar backed me up with a double reed smooth speaker (another new K & H call our testing). It's more than gadwalls could handle, and they cupped and committed. In less than 20 meters, Lamar and I came in unison and dropped Drake each. "Now that was fun. I did not know how effective a call we would get to work here," I said to Miguel waded channel to download our birds.

We shot more greenwing teal, WIGEON, gadwalls and even scaup or two, but I saw a Cinnamon Teal. Dick said drakes would really stand out in a herd, because their bodies will appear dark, in contrast to the white underside of their wings. I imagined it would look like a miniature black ducks in the distance.

O 09:00, shoals of large slow-flying ducks which are a strange whistling sound began to fly over. Miguel told us that "peachy Willow", and then browses through the binoculars, we saw that the black-bellied and fulvous tree duck. When a small flock flew by pretty close, Miguel mocked their whistle, and the group fell down low. Lamar and I scored in pairs, and to our amazement, the lone survivor of banked hard at 100 feet and came right back over the blind. He has been quite high, but since the water shells are still legal in Mexico, I knew that the burden for the job. When my barrel swung past his beak, I touched the trigger and a large brown duck folded and almost fell into the blind.
